Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa in Borrowdale collects a hat-trick of spa awards
The Borrowdale valley is one of the most beautiful corners of the Lake District, and the Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa has made the most of it. The family-owned hotel near Keswick has built a reputation as one of the region's leading spa destinations, with a string of national awards to show for it.
Its most recent success came at the 2024 Good Spa Guide Awards, where it was named Best Destination Spa. The hotel saw off competition from ten other spa hotels for the title, which was announced at the Spa Life Convention in Hampshire in June 2024.
That was the third time Lodore Falls had triumphed at the Good Spa Guide Awards. In 2023 it won Best Spa Garden, beating eight other spa gardens, a win that reflects how much the outdoor spaces matter here. In a valley as green and dramatic as Borrowdale, a spa that invites guests outside, rather than keeping them indoors, makes perfect sense.
Its first win came in 2021, when the hotel was crowned Best Countryside Getaway in the UK at the Good Spa Guide Awards, presented in August that year.
The spa's centrepiece is its 16-metre infinity-edge vitality pool, complete with fountains and underwater loungers, together with an overflow hot tub. All of it looks out across Derwentwater, one of the lake views that draws visitors to Borrowdale in the first place, so even a short swim comes with a memorable backdrop.
Local press has followed the hotel's progress closely. The Keswick Reminder has reported on its successive wins, and Visit Keswick has shared the news with visitors planning a stay in the area, a sign of how proud the local community is of the spa's success.
For many guests, the appeal is the combination of setting and simplicity: time in warm water, fresh air in the spa garden, and a landscape of fells, woodland and water that changes with every season.
