Early June in Keswick means one thing for many locals: the beer festival. Held at Keswick Rugby Club, the event has become a fixture of the town's calendar, bringing together real ale, live music and a strong community spirit.

The 2026 festival took place on 5 and 6 June at the rugby club on Crow Park Road, and as in previous years it combined a wide selection of beers with a line-up of live music and food.

Music is a big part of the appeal. In 2025, according to Avanti West Coast's event listing, Friday's line-up featured Solomon, the Katy Wear Band and Boomin', while Saturday brought Redhanded Siren, Sneaky Finch and Kasios. It is a mix that keeps the marquee busy well into the evening.

The festival is about more than a good night out. It raises money for Keswick Rugby Club and Keswick Lions, so every pint helps support local sport and community causes. That sense of purpose is one reason the event enjoys such loyal local backing.

The Keswick Reminder has covered the festival's return in its pages, and Avanti West Coast even promotes rail travel to the event, a sign of how far its reputation reaches beyond the town.

The setting helps too. The rugby club sits close to Crow Park and Derwentwater, so festivalgoers can enjoy a walk by the lake before heading in for an afternoon of beer and bands.

For Cumbrian breweries, it is also a chance to put their beers in front of an appreciative crowd, and for visitors, a friendly introduction to the region's brewing scene.

Part of the charm is the mix of people. Rugby club regulars, Lions volunteers, families, walkers and visiting beer enthusiasts all end up sharing tables, swapping recommendations and singing along to the same bands. It is the kind of event where a quick half can easily turn into an evening, and where the volunteers behind the bar are as much a part of the atmosphere as the music on stage.

Tickets are sold through the official Keswick Beer Festival website, which is also the best place to check dates, the music line-up and travel advice for the next festival.
